Today what I am going to do is build some custom cabinets. I am going to do so from a cabinet makers point of view and explain it to you in great detail. I am going to start with building the boxes for the custom cabinets before I do anything else. This is by far the simplest way to make custom cabinets and it has a lot of advantages to the process. Right here I have ¾ inch plywood. The reason why I will use ¾ inch plywood on my custom cabinets is because I’m just going to have a flush face on it and on that flush face of the custom cabinets I’m going to attack my stiles and my rails. I pre-cut all of the pieces for these miniature custom cabinets. These are just sample custom cabinets to show you how it’s done. The piece of wood I am using for the project is twelve inches high and 11 ¼ inches wide. These are the two sides. You have two pieces this size for the custom cabinets. The top and bottom of the custom cabinets is going to insert in between the sides. You’re going to subtract an inch and a half off of the width. This would be twenty-four inches total and if you take three quarter of an inch one side and three quarter on the congruent side you’ll come up to an inch and a half total for your custom cabinets which helps that part work out well.
